Fatal Shooting In Greenvale Prompts Organised Crime Investigation

Victoria police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that took place in Greenvale, a suburb located about 20km north of Melbourne‘s CBD. The victim, a man with alleged links to Melbourne’s mafia, was found outside a residence on Buchanan Place early Tuesday morning.

Sgt Danny Travaglini stated that the man was ambushed on his driveway as he was leaving for work. Paramedics attempted to revive him, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim’s family members were present during the incident, and detectives are currently in conversation with them.

The authorities have not yet disclosed the victim’s identity, but it is believed that the investigation will delve into potential organized crime connections. It has been mentioned that the man was known to local police, sparking further interest in the case.

Following preliminary examinations, the crime scene was expanded due to suspicions of a car being involved in the incident. While there are no immediate signs of retaliatory actions, law enforcement is cautious, emphasizing that connections to organized crime could lead to reprisals.

Detectives are also looking into a separate event where a shop in Sunshine West caught fire on the same morning as the shooting. The police aim to determine if there are any correlations between the two incidents. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
