FARMINGTON, Pa. — Residents in Fayette County woke up to a surprise snowfall early Monday morning, transforming their surroundings into a winter wonderland. While many enjoyed the sights, the snow created challenges for drivers on local roads.

Laurel Patterson, a resident of Woodside, was among those taken aback by the weather. ‘I didn’t expect this much. I mean, I thought we were going to get a dusting,’ she said while brushing snow off her car. ‘It’s a little early for this.’ Patterson added that today is special because it’s her daughter’s birthday, recalling that three feet of snow had fallen on the same date years ago.

Motorists faced slick conditions as a result of the snowfall. In Henry Clay Township, these conditions led to a school bus tipping over on Flat Rock Road. Fortunately, the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that no children were on board at the time of the incident. Emergency responders arrived quickly to help upright the bus, and dispatchers reported that no injuries occurred.

Pittsburgh’s Action Weather meteorologist Jill Szwed had predicted snow flurries for the region on Monday, making the morning’s weather not entirely unexpected. As the community shares winter photos, it becomes clear that the early snow has both delighted and posed challenges for Fayette County residents.
