The Legend Of Zelda Movie Set Filming

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — The upcoming live-action adaptation of Nintendo‘s popular video game franchise, The Legend of Zelda, has begun filming, and early footage has leaked online. Captured by Instagram users, the videos give fans a sneak peek at the film’s production and cast.

The first video features Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda, showcasing her in a stunning costume alongside an unidentified character who appears to hand her a weapon. They are seen near two horses, one adorned with a Triforce-decorated saddle.

In a second clip, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is glimpsed as Link, dressed in his iconic green attire. The filming began on November 4, 2025, and will continue through April 7, 2026. The movie is set for a worldwide release on May 7, 2027.

The project is helmed by director Wes Ball, known for his work on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, with the legendary Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto involved in the production. The film closely follows the franchise’s narrative, centering around Link, a young warrior destined to protect Hyrule from the dark forces led by the warlord Ganon.

According to the production synopsis, Link’s quest will involve battling monstrous enemies, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving puzzles to find sacred artifacts. The film aims to balance realism with fantasy, echoing the whimsical and adventurous nature of the beloved series, which has captivated fans for nearly 40 years.
