Flood Watch Kentucky Virginia West Virginia

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A flood watch remains in effect until 2 a.m. EDT Wednesday for several areas across northeastern Kentucky, southwest Virginia, and parts of West Virginia due to the potential for excessive rainfall.

The National Weather Service warns that flooding could occur in locations such as Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence counties in Kentucky, as well as Buchanan and Dickenson counties in Virginia. In West Virginia, counties impacted include Boone, Cabell, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, and several others in the region.

This weather event is expected to bring excessive runoff, which may lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, and streams, especially in low-lying areas and places prone to flooding. Forecasts indicate that creeks and streams may rise out of their banks, creating hazardous conditions for residents.

Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to monitor later forecasts and remain alert for possible flood warnings. The National Weather Service also recommends that individuals prepare to take action should flooding develop.

For further information, residents can visit the National Weather Service website at www.weather.gov/rlx and follow local updates on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
