Foo Fighters Release New Song to Celebrate 30th Anniversary

LOS ANGELES, California — The Foo Fighters have released a new single titled “Today’s Song” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. The song debuted on July 2, 2025, nearly 30 years after the original album’s release on July 4, 1995.
“Today’s Song” marks the band’s first original material since their 2023 album, “But Here We Are.” Dave Grohl, the band’s frontman, reflects on personal growth and change in the lyrics. He sings, “I woke today screaming for change / I knew that I must,” pairing somber lines with the band’s signature explosive sound.
In a heartfelt statement, Grohl, aged 56, shared his thoughts on the band’s journey. He noted, “Over the years, we’ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak. We have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what.” He also paid tribute to former band members William Goldsmith, Franz Stahl, and the late Taylor Hawkins.
Grohl added, “Taylor, your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile… Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play.” He emphasized that the band’s legacy is intertwined with Hawkins, who died in 2022.
The energetic new track follows the band’s recent cover of Minor Threat‘s “I Don’t Wanna Hear It,” which combines music recorded in 1995 with new vocals from Grohl.
The song’s cover art features a drawing by Grohl’s daughter, Harper, and symbolizes a new chapter for the band. The Foo Fighters are set to perform five concerts later this year, starting with shows in Jakarta, Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, and concluding at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City on November 14.
