Ford Truck Plant Louisville Kentucky Expansion

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Ford Motor Company is expanding its operations in Louisville with a multimillion-dollar land acquisition. The Michigan-based company purchased over 65 acres for more than $41.28 million, according to a deed filed with the Jefferson County Clerk's Office.

The newly acquired land is adjacent to the existing Kentucky Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane, close to the Gene Snyder Freeway. The property was sold by Cincinnati-based Nine Five, which acquired the site in 2018 for $575,000.

A spokesperson for Ford emphasized the company’s commitment to American manufacturing in a statement, saying, “This expansion of the Kentucky Truck Plant site is another example of Ford’s commitment to American manufacturing.” This announcement follows Ford’s earlier commitment of $2 billion for investments at the Louisville Assembly Plant made in August.

As of Monday, it was unclear what specific plans Ford has for the newly purchased land. In 2023, the company had previously announced developments at its two Louisville facilities as part of an agreement with the United Auto Workers (UAW), which followed a 41-day strike affecting several plants, including those in Louisville.
