A former British police detective, Mark Williams-Thomas, has provided new insights into the disappearance of Jay Slater in Tenerife. According to Mark, Jay left Veronicas Strip in Las Americas in a Seat Leon hire car with two acquaintances of his. The trio drove north to Casa Abuela Tina in Masca, a rental property, located about an hour’s drive away.

During the car ride, Jay allegedly posted a Snapchat claiming that he had taken a £12,000 Rolex from someone. Although this claim could not be confirmed as a reported theft, Jay’s friends validated the incident, stating that the stolen watch was a topic of discussion among them.

At the rental property, Jay made contact with friends through various social media channels. Mark stated that there were multiple video chats and photo exchanges during these interactions, including a picture taken by Jay while on the doorstep of the property.

Mark mentioned that the host of the rental property informed him about a departing bus at 10 am. He further indicated that it was reported Jay left the property feeling scared. Despite it being the logical choice, Jay did not return to the rental site.

Contrary to speculations, Mark ruled out the possibility of a hostage or kidnapping situation, emphasizing the absence of any credible ransom demands. However, he remains open-minded due to pending actions in the investigation.

This case has attracted significant attention in the media, with widespread speculation and inaccuracies circulating on social platforms. Mark highlighted the impact of such unfounded claims on Jay’s family and friends, urging for empathy and caution in online discussions.
