Former Karnataka Chief Minister Bs Yediyurappa Faces Allegations Of Assaulting Minor

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been embroiled in controversy as allegations of sexually assaulting a minor girl have emerged. The case has been registered under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and section 354(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the complaint filed by the mother of the minor.

The incident in question reportedly took place on February 2 when the mother and daughter visited Yediyurappa seeking assistance in a cheating case. Yediyurappa has vehemently denied the allegations, terming them as baseless. He has stated that he brought the matter to the attention of the police commissioner himself.

In response to the accusations, Yediyurappa clarified that the woman had initially sought his help, and he promptly contacted the police commissioner to address her concerns. However, he mentioned that the woman later turned against him, leading to the filing of a complaint against him by the police.

Moreover, Yediyurappa’s office has released information indicating that the complainant in this case has been involved in filing a significant number of cases against various individuals in the past, raising questions about the motives behind the allegations.

Reacting to the developments, Karnataka’s Home Minister Ji Parmeshwara acknowledged the sensitivity of the matter involving a former Chief Minister. He emphasized that the police had registered the complaint and initiated an investigation, underscoring the need to ascertain the facts before drawing conclusions.

The allegations against Yediyurappa come amidst a backdrop of political turbulence following his resignation as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in 2021. The unfolding situation has sparked debates within the political landscape of the state, with stakeholders closely monitoring the progress of the investigation.
