Whoopi Goldberg Fox News Outnumbered Controversy

NEW YORK, NY — During a recent episode of Fox News’ Outnumbered, host Julie Banderas made headlines with a controversial joke aimed at comedian Whoopi Goldberg. The remark came after Goldberg criticized a proposal from the Trump administration intended to encourage women to have more children by offering cash bonuses.

Goldberg, 69, expressed her disdain for the $5,000 incentive during an episode of The View, stating, “I am incredibly insulted by this because clearly they don’t know how women’s bodies work.” She questioned the effectiveness of the plan, saying, “I don’t know what $5,000 is supposed to do.”

As other hosts responded, Banderas played a clip of Goldberg’s comments and sarcastically remarked, “She’s such a lovely person. Isn’t she lovely?” She then added, “Thank god she did not do IVF, because I don’t think she’d find somebody to actually physically impregnate her, is what I’m trying to get at there.”

The segment drew laughter from the other hosts, despite the fact that Goldberg is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After backlash, Banderas attempted to clarify her comments, saying, “Obviously I’m kidding about Whoopi Goldberg, I think it would be great if she had a child.” She later acknowledged that Goldberg has one child but seemed uncertain about the details of her family.

Goldberg gave birth to her daughter, Alexandrea Martin, in 1974. Through Martin, she is the grandmother of three children and has one great-granddaughter.

The controversial comments came amid the Trump administration’s new initiatives aimed at addressing declining birth rates in the U.S. This push, which includes various policies aimed at encouraging larger families, is considered a priority for President Trump. He has previously referred to himself as the “fertilization president.”

In recent years, studies show that the U.S. birth rate has dropped to a level that cannot sustain the current population. Some officials have characterized this trend as a “civilizational crisis.”

With these developments, the topic of motherhood and family policy is drawing increased scrutiny, especially within the context of public figures’ opinions.
