Freddie Freeman And The Golden Bachelor

LOS ANGELES, California – A surprising connection emerges between MLB star Freddie Freeman and Season 2 of ABC‘s dating show, ‘The Golden Bachelor.’ Freeman’s aunt, Carol Freeman-Branstine, is a contestant on the show, vying for the affection of Mel Owens, a former NFL linebacker turned lawyer.

Freeman-Branstine, 63, is one of 23 women seeking a romantic connection with Owens. According to her show bio, she has three daughters and enjoys music from Bad Bunny. She also humorously notes that she drinks more Diet Coke than water and has returned to college recently, eager to take advantage of student and senior discounts.

“For Carol, this journey is all about finding her forever, so here’s to hoping she can find that meaningful connection with Mel,” her ABC bio states.

During the premiere of ‘The Golden Bachelor’ on Wednesday, 66-year-old Owens acknowledged regrets about previous remarks where he suggested he would “cut” any woman over age 60. “I have anxiety,” Owens admitted as he arrived at the mansion. “It’s sort of overwhelming. Age doesn’t matter. When they walk out, I’m not thinking age. I’m looking at feelings for connections. It’s the chemistry.”

Owens expressed hope that the contestants won’t judge him based on his earlier comments, stating, “It doesn’t matter how old you are. Falling in love never stops being magical.”

In the season opener, Owens eliminated 10 contestants, including Maia, 58; Susie, 62; Lisa, 66; Tracy, 62; Lily, 72; Andra, 77; Alexandra, 67; Carla, 62; Diane, 71; and Mylene, 61.

On a different front, Freeman showcased his own talent on the baseball field, hitting two home runs during a recent game against the Diamondbacks, leading the Dodgers to an 8-0 victory. The Dodgers are set to begin a three-game series with the Mariners in Seattle on Friday.
