French Yoga Teacher Venezuela Release

PARIS, France — A French yoga teacher who had been detained in Venezuela since June returned to Paris on Sunday afternoon. Camilo Castro‘s return marks the end of a prolonged period of uncertainty for his family and supporters.

The French government confirmed Castro’s arrival, stating that no negotiations had taken place for his release. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed relief at his return but did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding his detention or release.

Castro was arrested while teaching yoga classes in Caracas, sparking concerns among human rights advocates who called for his immediate release. His detention had been a focal point of diplomatic discussions between France and Venezuela.

Upon disembarking from his flight, Castro expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his ordeal. He thanked the French government for their assistance and the public for their encouragement during his time away.

The situation has heightened concerns regarding the treatment of foreign nationals in Venezuela, amid ongoing political unrest and challenges to personal freedoms in the country.
