Gap Launches Collaboration with Designer Sandy Liang for Women’s and Kids’ Apparel

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Gap Inc. is teaming up with New York-based designer Sandy Liang on a new collection for women and kids, set to launch on Friday at 9 a.m. ET. This collaboration blends Liang’s signature style with Gap’s classic designs, creating items that are both nostalgic and modern.
Sandy Liang, who graduated from Parsons School of Design and founded her brand in 2014, has become known for her ability to merge feminine nostalgia with a downtown edge. The new collection reimagines Gap’s iconic pieces, introducing playful designs such as denim adorned with bows and stylish outerwear.
“Each collaboration has its own handwriting – its own story,” said Mark Breitbard, president and CEO of Gap brand. “Sandy Liang has cultivated both an engaged community and an iconic design perspective, allowing her to reimagine our heritage pieces into something entirely new, yet familiar.”
The launch is accompanied by a short film titled “Sandy’s Dream Closet,” animated by visual artist Annie Choi. It depicts a dreamlike vision of Liang’s childhood experiences growing up above her father’s Cantonese restaurant in the Lower East Side of New York. The film will be shared across various digital platforms, including Gap’s website and social media channels, as well as in Gap stores that carry the collection.
Liang reflected on her emotional connection to Gap, stating, “Growing up, Gap was the pinnacle of fashion. It’s incredible that I get to co-create with such an iconic brand that I treasured so much as a child.” The collection honors her childhood memories while celebrating girlhood through its design.
The Gap x Sandy Liang collection features a range of denim pieces, including a pleated denim mini skirt priced at $88, a vegan fur crop denim jacket for $128, and low-rise ’90s loose carpenter jeans for $108. The collection also revisits Gap’s iconic fleece, revamped with Liang’s design, including a heavyweight oversized hoodie for $118.
Additional outerwear options include a reversible vegan leather sherpa jacket for $268, a vegan fur half-zip pullover for $198, and a bow-back trench coat for $228. Exclusive items for babies and toddlers will also be available, expanding the collection’s generational appeal, with Liang’s son even featuring in the campaign.
The collection will launch at gap.com and select Gap stores, including locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, and Fairfax County, Virginia, among others. It will also be available internationally in markets such as Japan, the UK, and Turkey, with prices ranging from $15 to $268.
