In an Instagram post, the series creators shared a photograph of a clapperboard bearing the title “Gavin & Stacey: The Finale,” with the caption stating, “And that’s a wrap… for the last time ever. See you on Christmas Day!”

Enthusiasts of the series have long awaited a continuation since the unresolved storyline from the last Christmas special, where Smithy faced a proposal from Nessa. During the filming, Jones addressed the crowds, thanking them for their support and commitment to following the series. “This is our farewell now to Barry and to Trinity Street, so you won’t be seeing us here anymore but we’ve had a wonderful 17 years,” she stated, reflecting on the show’s enduring popularity and emotional significance for both cast and viewers alike.
