Brian Daboll New York Giants Coach

New York, NY — The pressure is mounting for New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll as his 0-2 team prepares to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. Insiders report that both Daboll and defensive coordinator Shane Bowen are under significant scrutiny, with many suggesting their jobs could be on the line if results don’t improve quickly.

According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, the mood in the Giants’ locker room has shifted from optimistic to tense. Players reportedly feel the urgency to secure their first win of the season or risk their coaches being let go. “Sources tell me that head coach Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Shane Bowen are hanging on by a thread,” Pauline noted.

The Giants have struggled significantly since their playoff appearance in Daboll’s first season. They currently hold a record of 9-27 since that time and are 1-13 in their last 14 games. Following a disappointing 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 1 and a narrow 40-37 overtime defeat to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, many fans and analysts are questioning the direction of the team.

Even with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson set to start against the Chiefs, many believe that rookie Jaxson Dart could replace him soon if the team continues to falter. Should the Giants drop to 0-3 against Kansas City, speculation suggests Dart could be in the lineup as early as their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“If the Giants lose and [left tackle] Andrew Thomas returns, the conversation will inevitably turn to Dart,” Pauline explained. “Right now, it seems like a big win by the Chiefs might force Daboll’s hand.”

Past weeks have shown Daboll’s initial optimism waning, with players starting to question their roles within the system. However, during a recent visit to the locker room, one reporter perceived a lack of resignation among the players, suggesting they remain hopeful and engaged.

Should the Giants find themselves with a 0-3 record, ownership may be quick to consider changes, as co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch look for immediate improvements. A loss on a national stage could mark the tipping point for both Daboll and Bowen.
