Global Outage Hits Xero Amid End-of-Month Crunch

Published

on

Accounting software giant Xero is facing a significant global outage just as businesses rush to close their end-of-month accounts. Many users are having trouble logging in or navigating the Xero platform, which is crucial for managing invoices and payroll.

Xero, based in New Zealand, boasts over four million subscribers worldwide. This service has become a staple for small and large businesses alike, replacing older systems like MYOB with its cloud-based solutions.

The cause of the disruption appears to be linked to issues with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts Xero’s software. With payroll runs typically scheduled for tomorrow, many businesses could face challenges making necessary adjustments or changes during this critical time.

Accountants, bookkeepers, and small business owners will have to hold off on finalizing their accounts until Xero is back online. As of now, there is no estimated time for when services will be restored, leaving many in a state of uncertainty.

By around 10 am Sydney time, Xero was still working with AWS to resolve the issue, but no immediate solution was announced.
