GOP Lawmaker Proposes Trump’s Face on $100 Bill in Bold Move

AUSTIN, Texas — Republican Rep. Brandon Gill has introduced legislation to feature former President Donald Trump’s face on the $100 bill, in what he calls the Golden Age Act of 2025. This proposal comes from one of Congress’ newest members as a gesture to honor Trump ahead of his anticipated second term.
Gill stated in a written statement, “Altering the currency on Trump’s behalf would be a small way to honor all he will accomplish these next four years.” The act suggests a shift in national symbols designed to leave a lasting impression on American currency.
The proposal has already garnered co-sponsorship from Republican colleagues, including Reps. Troy Nehls of Texas and Lauren Boebert of Colorado. These lawmakers are aligning with Gill’s sentiment, reflecting a broader trend among Republicans to solidify their support for Trump.
In conjunction with Gill’s plan, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California revealed intentions to push for a $250 bill that would also feature Trump, despite existing federal laws that prohibit living persons from being depicted on U.S. currency. Issa’s bill proposes a one-time exception, evidencing an internal competition among GOP members to demonstrate fealty to Trump.
Further emphasizing this trend, Rep. Claudia Tenney of New York recently introduced legislation aimed at commemorating Trump as the founder of America’s Golden Age, and there are ongoing discussions to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after him.
Political analysts note that these legislative efforts are not solely for policy-making but represent a declaration of loyalty within Trump’s Republican Party. Sean M. Theriault, a government professor at the University of Texas at Austin, remarked, “A lot of these people are in really safe districts, but they’re also thinking about what their next step is.”
The GOP’s burgeoning push for pro-Trump legislation, even if unlikely to pass, showcases the significant influence Trump maintains over Republican lawmakers who seek to remain on his positive side amidst swirling political ambitions.
As the competitive spirit intensifies among the party members, those actions could be construed as a reflection of Trump’s current standing in Republican politics. The situation has led to concerns about a possible shift towards a cult of personality reminiscent of authoritarian governance.
