Heat Wave Hits North Texas This Weekend

It’s shaping up to be a hot and sticky weekend in North Texas, with temperatures soaring and a heat index that’s dangerously high.

The local weather team has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the Dallas-Fort Worth area and nearby regions. Expect the afternoon heat index to climb between 110 and 112 degrees, which is quite risky for anyone outside.

Friday will be mostly sunny and hot, with temperatures reaching around 103 degrees. Winds will be mild, but not enough to cool things down. Tonight, temperatures will drop only slightly, with a low of around 82 degrees.

As we head into Saturday and Sunday, the sun won’t be letting up. Highs will again be around 103 and 105 degrees respectively. Both days will see mostly sunny skies, and it looks like the breeze will be light, sticking around 5-10 mph.

Meanwhile, an elevated fire danger is in place west of US Highway 281, particularly in the Mineral Wells area, due to the dry conditions and low humidity.

So, if you’re planning to head outside this weekend, be sure to stay hydrated and take all the necessary precautions to beat the heat!
