Maryland Rain Storms May 2025

BALTIMORE, Maryland — Meteorologist Ava Marie reports that heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are expected in Maryland on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. A notable storm system is moving into the region, bringing increased chances for heavy rainfall throughout the day.

The rain is already beginning to pick up in South Baltimore and parts of Howard and Anne Arundel counties, as indicated by the green and yellow on the radar map. According to Marie, visibility may be reduced due to the rain, humidity, and potential for fog, complicating firefighting efforts in affected areas.

This Impact Weather day could see heavy rain at times, with the possibility of thunderstorms in the evening. Marie emphasized that while lightning has not been a concern so far, it will need to be monitored later in the afternoon.

Rain is predicted to continue throughout the week. Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to remain in the low 70s. By Thursday, temperatures will start climbing, reaching the mid-80s, but rain chances will also persist.

Additionally, a Flood Watch has been issued for northern Virginia and the panhandle of West Virginia due to the heavy rainfall expected. Some areas could accumulate between one to four inches of rain by Wednesday.

Residents are advised to keep track of changing weather conditions as this storm system develops. Meteorologist Derek Beasley, WJZ’s Chief Meteorologist, advised that this rainfall is essential for combating ongoing drought conditions in the region.
