Henry Winkler Returns to His Roots on Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan — Actor and author Henry Winkler visited his childhood school, PS 87, on Monday to share his writing journey with students.
Winkler, best known for his role as Arthur Fonzarelli on the classic television show “Happy Days,” spoke to the children about creativity and following their dreams. He attended PS 87, and his return was filled with nostalgia and inspiration.
In addition to his acting career, Winkler has authored many children’s books. During the visit, he was joined by a co-author to discuss their collaborative writing process. They emphasized the importance of perseverance and dreaming big.
Winkler has often spoken about his struggles with learning, which he has used as a foundation for his writing. His books often feature characters who face challenges similar to those he experienced as a child.
“It’s important to let kids know that having difficulties is okay and that they can still achieve great things,” Winkler said during his address, encouraging students to embrace their unique journeys.
Winkler’s visit not only highlighted his achievements but also served as a reminder to students that they can overcome obstacles and follow their passions.
