Hinds, Rankin, Madison Counties Hold Special Elections Results

Hinds County Election Results Nov 2023

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Special elections were held Tuesday, November 4, across Hinds, Rankin, and Madison counties, focusing on various local positions including State Senate, coroner, judicial, and supervisor seats.

The most watched race was for State Senate District 26, where seven candidates sought to fill the seat vacated by former Jackson Mayor John Horhn. Results for this race have not yet been reported, as precincts are still counting votes.

In Hinds County‘s coroner race, interim coroner Jeremiah Howard is currently leading with about 1,700 votes, having about 1,919 of the 108 precincts tallied so far. The previous coroner, Sharon Grisham-Stewart, retired after 25 years.

In Madison County, Coleen Wise won the Justice Court Judge District 3 race against Mitch Tyner. Meanwhile, Rankin County has two races headed to runoffs: Justice Court Judge District 3 and Supervisor District 2. Candidates for the Justice Court Judge race included Jeff Arnold, Cameron Benton, Tamara Bowie, and Adam Woods.

Voter turnout was reported strong across the metro area, with numerous crews stationed to cover the election returns. Updates and complete results will be provided throughout the evening on WLBT news.
