Hollywood Hills Brush Fire 2025 Sunset Boulevard

Firefighters successfully halted the forward progress of a brush fire in the Hollywood Hills on Tuesday morning, preventing it from threatening nearby buildings. The fire, which broke out around 10 a.m. in the 8400 block of West Sunset Boulevard, was contained to approximately 3 acres before 11 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The blaze began at a building located at 8481 Sunset Blvd., just north of La Cienega Boulevard, and quickly spread to nearby brush. Crews deployed structure-protection units to safeguard homes on Queens Way in Hollywood Hills West as the fire advanced northward. Smoke from the fire was visible across the Hollywood area, prompting traffic diversions on Sunset Boulevard near La Cienega Boulevard.

The incident occurred as Southern California faced red flag warnings due to powerful Santa Ana winds, which are expected to persist through Thursday. The National Weather Service warned of low humidity and wind gusts of up to 100 mph in some areas, creating extreme wildfire conditions. The red flag warning initially covered the Malibu coast, Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, and the San Gabriel, San Fernando, and Santa Clarita valleys, later extending to Los Angeles County beaches and the Palos Verdes Hills.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Residents are urged to remain vigilant as dry conditions and strong winds increase the risk of rapid fire spread. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
