Hollywood Stars Lose Homes in Devastating Los Angeles Wildfires
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Several Hollywood celebrities, including Jeff Bridges, Mel Gibson, and Sir Anthony Hopkins, have lost homes in the deadly wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area. The fires, which have destroyed hundreds of properties, have left many residents, including high-profile figures, grappling with the loss of their homes and cherished memories.
Jeff Bridges, known for his Oscar-winning role in “Crazy Heart” and his recent work in “The Old Man,” confirmed that his Malibu home, inherited from his parents, was destroyed. Mel Gibson, another Oscar winner, revealed his Malibu home was “completely toasted” while he was away recording Joe Rogan‘s podcast. Sir Anthony Hopkins and his wife lost two homes in the Pacific Palisades fire, according to sources cited by the Hollywood Reporter.
In an Instagram post, Hopkins reflected on the tragedy, stating, “The only thing we take with us is the love we give.” Other celebrities affected include Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Adam Brody, and Milo Ventimiglia. Ventimiglia, best known for his roles in “Gilmore Girls” and “Heroes,” returned to his burnt-out home, drawing parallels to his character Jack Pearson in “This Is Us,” who also suffers from smoke inhalation after a house fire. “It’s not lost on me, life imitating art,” he said.
Paris Hilton shared her heartbreak on Instagram, describing the loss of her Malibu home as “indescribable.” Rosie O'Donnell, former co-host of “The View,” also lost her beachfront property in Malibu. The fires have caused some of the worst devastation in Pacific Palisades, where hundreds of homes have been reduced to ash.
Billy Crystal, star of “When Harry Met Sally,” expressed his grief over losing the Pacific Palisades home he shared with his wife since 1979. “We raised our children and grandchildren here,” he said. “Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.”
Other celebrities affected include Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, whose home was reportedly destroyed, and Mandy Moore, who shared that her Altadena home is “not livable but mostly intact.” Ricki Lake, John Goodman, Anna Faris, and Cary Elwes also lost their homes. Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Teller shared a before-and-after photo of their razed property, with Keleigh lamenting, “I wish I grabbed my wedding dress.”
Despite the widespread destruction, some celebrities, like James Woods, found their homes miraculously intact. Woods initially believed his Pacific Palisades home was destroyed but later discovered it was still standing. Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest pledged $1 million to fire relief efforts, while Diane Warren, the legendary songwriter, lost her beachfront home of nearly three decades.
The fires have also displaced many residents, prompting a wave of community support. Jenna Cooper, a store owner and donation coordinator, noted that celebrities like Halle Berry and Sharon Stone have contributed to relief efforts by donating clothing and other essentials. “It’s a community who will do anything to help,” Cooper said.
As the fires continue to burn, the focus remains on recovery and rebuilding. The emotional toll on those affected is immense, but the outpouring of support from the community offers a glimmer of hope in the face of devastation.
