Ike Turner Jr., Son of Music Legends, Dies at 67

LOS ANGELES, CA – Ike Turner Jr., the son of music icons Tina Turner and Ike Turner Sr., has died at the age of 67. His death was confirmed by Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, who shared the news with The Post, stating, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner Jr.”

In her statement, Bullock described Turner Jr. as more than a cousin, calling him a brother, as they grew up together in a famous household. She reflected on his early musical talent, noting that he had an interest in every instrument, but eventually favored playing the keyboard after being encouraged to take down his drum kit after practice.

Turner Jr. worked for many years as a sound engineer and musician. He helped manage Bolic Sound Studios, which was founded by his father. Bullock noted that he was a Grammy winner, receiving the award for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2007 for his father’s work, ‘Risin’ With The Blues.’

While the family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, they are grateful for the outpouring of condolences from fans and friends. Although a cause of death was not disclosed, reports indicate he died from kidney failure after battling severe heart problems.

Bullock revealed that Turner Jr. had suffered a stroke in September and his health had been declining for some time. He was born in 1958 to Ike Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, but was adopted by Tina Turner at a young age. Turner Jr. shared in past interviews that Tina raised him from the age of two and was the only mother he had ever known.

After the divorce between Tina and Ike Sr., Ike Jr. briefly worked with his mother as a sound engineer. Unfortunately, their relationship soured over the years, and he stated in an interview that he hadn’t spoken with her since around 2000.

Turner Jr. recalled in 2018 how he was taken out of school at 13 to tour with his father, where he learned the music business firsthand. His father, who passed away in 2007, was known for his strict demeanor, and Ike Jr. alleged that he faced some abuse during their time together.

The news of his passing has prompted tributes from fans honoring his life and legacy. Celebrities and admirers alike have expressed their condolences across social media platforms.
