33 Immortals Indie Game Multiplayer

VANCOUVER, Canada — Indie game developer Thunder Lotus Games, best known for its critically acclaimed title Spiritfarer, has announced the launch of their latest project, 33 Immortals. Scheduled for early access release on March 18, 2024, this large-scale cooperative roguelike challenges players to battle through layers of Hell while teaming up with groups of 33 players.

In 33 Immortals, players step into the role of a faceless damned soul, rebelling against divine judgment from God. The game combines elements from multiple genres, allowing players to engage in cooperative gameplay while fighting against hordes of enemies. Each session can host up to 33 participants, all focused on defeating the forces of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven.

Prior to its early access launch, select players were invited to test 33 Immortals. During a recent play session, the developers showcased a highly accessible gameplay loop designed to get players into action with minimal setup. Combat is fast-paced and relies on teamwork, making coordination essential for success.

“While exploring the chaos of the game, I felt a sense of camaraderie with my teammates. Even when battles got hectic, we all worked together to overcome the challenges,” one player noted.

The gameplay includes a variety of weapons—swords, bows, daggers, and staffs—each with their unique powers and tactics. Players can experiment with different play styles through weapon selection, dodging mechanics, and skill perks. For example, a perk that reduces cooldown times can make players feel more agile, enhancing the overall experience.

Players are required to complete specific challenges through dungeons known as Torture Chambers, where they face waves of enemies to prove their worth before encountering major bosses like Lucifer. The game emphasizes cooperative play through its design, rewarding players for collaborating and providing shared resources to heal or buff fellow team members.

As players progress, they can collect loot and upgrade their abilities in a safe haven called the Dark Woods. However, players soon learn that survival in Purgatory requires deeper teamwork and strategy, as enemies grow in power.

Despite the team-focused nature of 33 Immortals, several aspects remain in development, most notably graphical settings and control customization options. As Thunder Lotus continues to refine the game post-launch, they have announced plans for further content updates and community engagement.

“The focus is on creating an enjoyable experience, and we are dedicated to listening to player feedback,” said a representative from Thunder Lotus. “Our roadmap includes new enemies, bosses, and even a third map set in Heaven, slated for release in 2025.”

Overall, 33 Immortals promises to embrace the spirit of cooperative gameplay. Priced at $19.99, it will be available on Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass and PC through the Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store. As the multiplayer landscape evolves, the success of 33 Immortals may hinge on maintaining an active player base, but initial responses indicate a strong interest in its unique multiplayer dungeon-diving concept.
