After an exhaustive 155-day search, the body of Iowa livestock hauler David Schultz has been discovered deceased. The shocking revelation came Wednesday in a Sac County field, not far from where Schultz’s semitruck loaded with hogs was abandoned over five months ago in western Iowa.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations confirmed that an unidentified individual alerted the Sac County Sheriff’s Office about the discovery of a body in a field. The remains were found in close proximity to where Schultz’s rig was initially located in November. The body has been transferred to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner for further examination.

Sarah Schultz, the widow of David Schultz, expressed a mix of emotions on Facebook, stating, “Even though it is not the ending we wanted, I thank God we now know where David is because the 155 days of not knowing was pure hell. We still have a lot of unanswered questions, but at least one big one was answered, and we know he is with Jesus. God bless!”

David Schultz, a 53-year-old father of twin boys, went missing in late November after departing his home in Wall Lake on Nov. 20 to pick up a shipment of pigs in the Eagle Grove area. Surveillance footage captured Schultz at a truck stop east of Fort Dodge before his truck, loaded with pigs, was discovered turned off on the side of the road, facing an unexpected direction.

The United Cajun Navy, a volunteer search and rescue group from Louisiana, mobilized efforts to locate Schultz, combing through vast swathes of land in and around Sac County. Jake Rowley, a member of the United Cajun Navy, raised concerns about the condition of Schultz’s body, hinting at possible foul play surrounding the circumstances of his death.

Throughout the extensive search duration, Sarah Schultz remained vocal on social media about her husband’s disappearance, highlighting her suspicion of foul play and asserting her determination to find answers. The trucking community rallied behind the hashtag #bringdavidhome, showing unwavering support for Schultz’s family in this trying time.

The tragic resolution of David Schultz’s disappearance has left many questions unanswered, pointing to the need for a comprehensive investigation into the events leading up to his untimely demise. The community, family, and authorities continue to seek closure and justice for Schultz and his loved ones in the wake of this devastating discovery.
