Iron Hill Brewery Closes All Locations Amid Financial Struggles

Newark, DE — Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant has announced the immediate closure of all its locations due to ongoing financial challenges, according to an email sent to employees on September 25, 2025.
The message stated that the company has made the difficult decision to file for bankruptcy. “It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of all our restaurant locations effective immediately,” the email read. The leadership expressed regret and emphasized their efforts to secure new funding to avoid this situation.
Earlier this month, Iron Hill closed its flagship location in Newark, which had been a symbol of the brand since it opened in the mid-1990s. The company also shut down locations in Voorhees, New Jersey, and Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia prior to the widespread closure.
Iron Hill has locations in Delaware, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. Over the years, it expanded significantly, but leadership acknowledged that efforts to secure additional funding had fallen short. They thanked employees for their hard work and contributions, noting that each team member played an essential role in the brewery’s journey.
This closure marks a significant loss for the craft beer community in Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, where the brewpubs were popular gathering spots for families and friends.
Employees received notification of the closure with limited notice, catching many off guard. The email included information on final paychecks and benefits for those affected by the shutdown.
