Jahrome Hughes Honored at 2024 Dally M Awards

The most outstanding players and memorable moments of the 2024 rugby league season were recognized during the prestigious Dally M Awards ceremony. The event took place on Wednesday night at Sydney‘s Royal Randwick racecourse, highlighting the achievements of players across both the NRL and NRLW competitions.

Among the accolades, the Player of the Year awards were the most anticipated, alongside several other honors, such as Team of the Year, Try of the Year, and Tackle of the Year. These acknowledgments celebrate the exceptional talents and remarkable performances displayed throughout the year.

The evening’s highlight was the recognition of Jahrome Hughes as the best player of the 2024 NRL season. Hughes, who plays as a halfback for the Melbourne Storm, was awarded the Dally M Medal. This honor places him alongside fellow New Zealanders Gary Freeman, who won in 1992, and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who claimed the title in 2018.

Following the announcement, Hughes’ New Zealand teammates paid tribute to his accomplishment with a powerful haka, honoring his significant contribution to the game. Hughes finished the season with 62 points, just one point ahead of runner-up James Tedesco, expressing his surprise and gratitude at being named the winner.
