Los Angeles, CA – Jared Leto shared insights on his role as Ares in the upcoming film, ‘Tron: Ares,’ directed by Joachim Rønning. The movie, set to release on October 10, depicts a digital being gaining sentience.

Leto, known for his deep character portrayals, approached Ares differently. The character possesses minimal expression and backstory. Leto joked, “I just show my true personality: empty, flat, clinical,” explaining the unique challenge he faced with Ares. He described Ares as a stoic samurai warrior focused solely on efficiency, distinguishing this role from his previous, more colorful performances.

The plot follows Ares, who defies his programmer, Julian Dillinger, played by Evan Peters. Dillinger aims to auction digital soldiers like Ares as weapons. However, when Ares meets ENCOM CEO Eve Kim, portrayed by Greta Lee, he discovers humanity in himself and seeks to thwart Dillinger’s plans.

“I wanted to be a part of that journey and be with him, discovering what it means and takes to be human,” Rønning said about the film’s central theme and his attachment to Ares’s development.

The film dives into contemporary topics, including AI, which has gained significant attention since the project began three years ago. Rønning expressed gratitude for the film’s timely release amid growing discussions surrounding AI.

As anticipation builds for ‘Tron: Ares,’ fans eagerly await the film’s exploration of technology’s impact on humanity, character arcs, and potential set-ups for future sequels.
