Jay Ellis Not Suitable For Work Cast

LOS ANGELES, CA — Actor Jay Ellis has joined the cast of Mindy Kaling’s upcoming comedy series, Not Suitable for Work. The series will feature five young professionals navigating their careers and personal lives in Manhattan’s stylish Murray Hill neighborhood.

Ellis will portray Bill Gibson, a successful investment banker celebrated as his firm’s highest-earning managing director. His casting adds star power to an ensemble that includes previously announced actors Ella Hunt, Avantika, Will Angus, Jack Martin, and Nicholas Duvernay.

In Not Suitable for Work, Hunt plays AJ Pascarelli, a first-year analyst, while Avantika portrays savvy assistant Abhinaya “Abby” Chilukuri. Angus takes on the role of finance bro Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III, and Martin plays idealistic New Yorker Josh Teitelbaum. Duvernay portrays med student Kel Washington, balancing exams with his acting aspirations.

Mindy Kaling, known for her work on The Office and The Mindy Project, creates and executive produces the show alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy. The series will be produced with Warner Bros. Television.

Ellis is no stranger to high-profile projects; he recently starred in Netflix’s Running Point and Lionsgate’s Freaky Tales. He gained acclaim for his role in HBO’s Emmy-winning series Insecure and the blockbuster film Top Gun: Maverick.

With multiple nominations and an NAACP Image Award win under his belt, Ellis also directs and produces through his company, Black Bar Mitzvah, known for its work with major streaming platforms like Amazon and HBO.
