Jaya Bachchan and Rajya Sabha Chairman in Heated Exchange
In a recent heated moment in the Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan, an MP from the Samajwadi Party, and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar had a fiery exchange that caught everyone’s attention.
The incident unfolded during a debate when Dhankhar invited Bachchan to speak. Upset by his tone, Bachchan pointed out that she found it “unacceptable” and asked for an apology.
“I am an artist. I understand body language and expressions. But your tone is not right. We are your colleagues, but your tone is unacceptable,” she expressed, which stirred the opposition MPs to support her and protest against the chairman’s remarks.
In response, Dhankhar defended himself, stating that he expected decorum to be maintained by everyone, regardless of their status. He insisted, “Jaya ji you have earned a great reputation. You may be a celebrity, but you must understand the importance of decorum in this House.”
As the altercation escalated, Dhankhar’s irritation became evident, and he remarked, “Enough of it. You can be a celebrity, but accept decorum!” This led to noticeable tension in the upper chamber of Parliament.
