Jeanine Pirro Swearing In Ceremony

Washington, D.C. — Jeanine Pirro was sworn in as the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia on Wednesday, becoming the latest Fox News host appointed by President Donald Trump. In a ceremony held in the Oval Office, Trump praised Pirro for her dedication to justice and her long career in law enforcement.

During the event, Trump stated, “Over five decades, Jeanine Pirro, known to millions as ‘Judge Jeanine,’ has devoted her life to the pursuit of justice, the defense of freedom, and the fair, equal, and impartial rule of law.” He emphasized her qualifications for the role and her reputation as a strong advocate for victims.

Pirro replaces Ed Martin, who stepped down amid controversy over his past defense of January 6 rioters. Trump’s support for Pirro, a longtime ally, follows a tumultuous nomination process for Martin, who lacked sufficient Senate support for a permanent appointment.

Last week, Pirro faced her first challenge as U.S. attorney when discussing a recent case being investigated as a potential hate crime. During a news conference, she condemned antisemitism, stating, “A young couple at the beginning of their life’s journey…had their bodies removed in the cold of the night… We are not going to tolerate that anymore.” She reaffirmed her commitment to uphold justice in the nation’s capital.

Pirro has an extensive background in law. She served as the assistant district attorney in Westchester County, New York, and later became the county’s first female district attorney. Despite her political setbacks in running for higher office, she maintained a strong presence in media through her tenure at Fox News.

Throughout her career, Pirro has been known for her controversial statements and strong support of Trump’s policies. Trump nominated her for this role as part of his continued alignment with influential media figures. Her appointment marks a continued trend of integrating Fox News personalities into government positions within the Trump administration.

As the new U.S. attorney, Pirro aims to tackle issues of public safety and improve justice in Washington, D.C. In her swearing-in speech, she expressed her determination to fight against crime and promote safety, declaring, “Today, Mr. President, you bring me back to my roots… justice will be honored in the District of Columbia.”
