Jen Affleck Reflects on Her DWTS Journey and Motherhood

LOS ANGELES, CA — Jen Affleck, a star of the reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, opened up about her experience on Dancing With the Stars Season 34 during a recent interview. The actress joined the competitive dance series shortly after giving birth to her third child this fall. Although she was eliminated from the show, viewers got to see her journey through the latest season of Mormon Wives.

During Season 3 of Mormon Wives, the women auditioned for a chance to compete on Dancing With the Stars. Audiences watched as Jen and her co-star Whitney Leavitt were ultimately chosen for the show. The experience allowed Jen to fulfill a long-time dream while also sharing her postpartum story.

“It was obviously a dream of mine to dance in front of millions of people,” Jen shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “But more than anything, it was a dream of mine to share my story related to mothers dealing with postpartum and prenatal depression.” She added that, despite the challenges, participating brought awareness to important issues.

Jen candidly discussed her experience of competing shortly after childbirth, saying, “I pushed for this opportunity and made it a storyline, and then finally it became a reality. I was ecstatic.” She emphasized that her journey was supported by her fellow MomTok cast members, who were encouraging of her aspirations.

Reflecting on her competition, Jen expressed feelings that she may have been overlooked due to various challenges she faced, including postpartum recovery and illness during the season. “The judges didn’t recognize every aspect of my story, but I got recognized by millions of moms,” she said.

Throughout her journey on the dancing show, Jen maintained that the experience was mostly about self-discovery and empowerment, focusing on her personal journey rather than the competitive pressure against her co-star. “We were on completely different journeys,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to her experience.

“I was so excited to be partnered with Jan, who’s a new dancer too. It made our journey even more special, as we learned together,” she added, speaking highly of their partnership.

As she continues to juggle motherhood with her entertainment career, Jen remains dedicated to sharing her story and being an advocate for other mothers navigating similar experiences in life and career. “I still plan to be a part of the show and pursue my dreams in the entertainment industry,” she confirmed.
