Jennifer Aniston Ai Deepfake Scam

Jennifer Aniston has become the latest celebrity to fall victim to an AI deepfake scam, highlighting the growing concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence in creating fake advertisements. A recent video surfaced on Facebook, showing Aniston allegedly promoting collagen supplements and claiming to be in “bikini shape even in my 50s.”

The video, which garnered over 700,000 views before being taken down, was examined by fitness influencer Ben Carpenter. He determined that the clip was actually taken from a Hollywood Reporter roundtable interview featuring Aniston, Nicole Kidman, and Naomi Watts. Carpenter noted that the body language in the snippet matched the original interview, where Aniston was discussing her acting career, not her physical appearance.

Experts and fans alike have expressed concern over the authenticity of such videos, with AI expert Marva Bailer pointing out that Aniston’s limited social media presence makes such ads suspicious. “Jennifer joined Instagram in 2019 and has less than 200 posts. So, if you see an ad with her promoting a product on Instagram, it’s likely to raise red flags,” Bailer said.

This incident is part of a broader issue with AI deepfakes, which have also targeted other celebrities like Tom Hanks, Taylor Swift, and Scarlett Johansson. Rob Rosenberg, founder of Telluride Legal Strategies, described the situation as a “big game of whack a mole,” emphasizing the need for continuous vigilance and enforcement of laws to combat these scams.

Despite recent legislation in California aimed at regulating AI deepfakes, the prevalence of these scams remains a significant challenge. Rosenberg highlighted that the effectiveness of these laws depends on how vigorously they are enforced by lawmakers and law enforcement agencies.
