Jerry Jones Discusses Trade Talks for Micah Parsons

Dallas, Texas — Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, spoke on ESPN New York about trade discussions for star edge rusher Micah Parsons before sending him to the Green Bay Packers.
In a radio interview with host Gary Myers, Jones disclosed that he had reached out to the New York Jets regarding a potential deal. He expressed interest in acquiring defensive tackle Quinnen Williams as part of the trade. However, Jones stated that the Jets did not have the resources to move forward.
“Just frankly, didn’t have the resources to entertain conversation,” Jones said. He emphasized the need for a significant inside defensive player to improve the Cowboys’ run defense, which had struggled in recent years.
The Jets declined to comment on Jones’ remarks, but the Cowboys owner confirmed that any trade talks hinged on securing a “dominant” interior lineman. Myers noted that Williams was key to the discussion, to which Jones responded positively.
In the end, Parsons was traded to the Packers in exchange for Pro Bowl tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round draft picks. Despite missing out on Williams, Jones reported satisfaction with the return for Parsons, who had a successful debut against the Washington Commanders, notching impressive stats.
Jones remains firm in his belief that a single player cannot solely define a defense. He stated, “Everybody’s looking for the guy that could absolutely singly make the defense… Now, we had him for four years. One guy doesn’t do it.”
