HUDSON, Fla. — Renowned meteorologist Jim Cantore has arrived in Florida as the state braces for the impact of Hurricane Helene. Cantore, known for his on-the-ground coverage of severe weather, was spotted in Pasco County, preparing to report on the impending storm that is expected to intensify into a major hurricane.

According to The Weather Channel, Cantore, alongside other meteorologists from the network, has been deployed to various locations along Florida’s Gulf Coast. Cantore’s presence was confirmed in Hudson, where local residents expressed surprise at encountering the weather expert in their community. One member of a Facebook group noted, “Not every day you get to meet Jim Cantore in little old Hudson, FL!”

The National Hurricane Center‘s latest advisory indicated that Hurricane Helene was projected to reach hurricane status on Wednesday. It is then expected to “rapidly strengthen” by Thursday, posing a significant threat as it approaches Florida’s Gulf Coast. Early impacts from the storm, including rain bands, are anticipated to arrive by late Wednesday, with the potential for severe weather conditions.

As Helene passes near the Tampa Bay area on Thursday, forecasters warn of possible storm surges later in the day. By Friday, wind patterns are expected to change as the storm moves away, yet flooding and storm surge concerns are projected to persist until Saturday.

In response to the looming threat, several counties in the Tampa Bay area, including Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, and Pasco, have issued emergency notifications and advisories. Residents are urged to stay informed and prepare for potential impacts as the hurricane approaches.
