JoJo Siwa Surprised with Humanitarian Award by Boyfriend Chris Hughes
Los Angeles, CA – JoJo Siwa was visibly shocked when her boyfriend Chris Hughes surprised her with the news that she would receive the Humanitarian Award at the Dancers Against Cancer Gala on October 21. During an interview with E! News, Siwa, 22, expressed her disbelief: ‘Wait, actually? I’m in shock right now.’
Hughes, 32, who will present the award to Siwa, admitted he would likely be emotional during the ceremony. ‘I’m gonna be a proper mess onstage,’ he said. Siwa smiled and responded with, ‘I know I shouldn’t be laughing right now, but you’re so cute.’
Dancers Against Cancer is a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance and resources to dancers impacted by cancer. The organization praised Siwa for her commitment to the dance community and her philanthropic efforts. ‘JoJo’s efforts demonstrate her dedication to the dance community that spurred her career,’ the nonprofit stated.
Siwa has long been involved with DAC, helping to raise over $5 million for dancers and families battling cancer at recent events. DAC’s founder, Noah Lands, noted that their mission goes beyond fundraising, aiming to honor fighters and survivors. Siwa’s advocacy has bridged her artistic talents with her philanthropic work, embodying ‘the rhythm of hope and unity.’
In addition to her humanitarian work, Siwa’s relationship with Hughes has gained media attention since they met on ‘Celebrity Big Brother U.K.’ earlier this year. Siwa revealed in June that her feelings for Hughes have brought her joy: ‘What I realized with Christopher is I never have second guessed my feelings for him.’
She has recently shared how her relationship has influenced her outlook on love and marriage, saying, ‘I’ve never wanted the future so bad. I want a ring, I want my dad to walk me down the aisle.’
As Siwa prepares to accept her award, she is embracing this new chapter in her life with gratitude and excitement for the future.
