Jon Stewart Daily Show 2025

NEW YORK, NY – Paramount has confirmed that Jon Stewart will continue to host Comedy Central‘s ‘The Daily Show’ once a week through the end of 2026. This announcement was made on November 3, 2025, amid much speculation regarding the show’s future.

Stewart, who originally returned to the show in 2024 after a hiatus, has been hosting Mondays while correspondents take over the other weekdays. He sought the platform, stating the need to express thoughts as the election season heats up.

Despite speculation about his future following Paramount’s merger and changes in management, Stewart’s show has remained popular, especially after the return of former President Trump to office in January 2025. His pointed commentary and humor have kept viewer interest high.

The uncertainty surrounding Stewart’s position heightened after CBS, a sibling company to Comedy Central, canceled ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘ in July 2025. In a strong monologue, Stewart raised questions about the motivations behind the show’s cancellation, pondering if it was influenced by corporate interests tied to Trump’s administration.

Bill Carter, a notable author on late-night television, remarked on Stewart’s commitment to not yield to fears or pressures from political powers. This sentiment was echoed in a recent interview with The New Yorker editor David Remnick, who noted the media’s struggle against capitulation to Trump.

With Karl Pearce, head of Comedy Central, expressing pride in Stewart’s return, the show aims to deliver incisive comedy through the upcoming election cycle.

Stewart’s contract renewal was confirmed in a press release, assuring fans that his signature wit and critical perspective will continue through the midterm elections in December 2026.
