MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jordan Spieth is looking to secure his spot in the next playoff event at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship, which begins its second round on Friday, August 8.

Spieth currently ranks 48th in the FedEx Cup standings, just on the edge of qualifying for a tee time at the upcoming BMW Championship. To keep his playoff hopes alive, he will need a strong finish this week.

His tournament got off to a rocky start on Thursday. Spieth began with a bogey at the 1st hole, gained momentum with a birdie at the 6th, but lost another shot at the 9th, finishing the front nine at one over par. However, he energized his game on the back nine with birdies at holes 12 and 17, bringing his overall score to one under par.

To improve his standing and ensure a solid outcome, Spieth knows he must maintain his performance during Round 2. He is scheduled to tee off at 11:40 a.m. ET alongside fellow golfer Wyndham Clark.

Golf enthusiasts can catch the second round live from 2 to 6 p.m. ET on Golf Channel, with an online streaming option available on ESPN+, starting at 8 a.m. ET.

Among other notable pairings, Scottie Scheffler, who is a top contender at TPC Southwind, will start his tournament alongside Sepp Straka at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday and at 9:35 a.m. on Friday.

With significant stakes at play, the top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings after Sunday will advance to the BMW Championship, while the top 30 will qualify for the Tour Championship the following week.
