OGDEN, Utah — A juvenile in Washington state has been detained in connection with a bomb threat targeting Ben Lomond High School last week. The Ogden Police Department announced the detention following an investigation into the threat received on Thursday, which led to lockdown procedures.

Authorities did not disclose the name of the suspect or any details on how they were located. Mike McBride, spokesman for Ogden Mayor Ben Nadolski, stated that the investigation is ongoing. ‘This remains an active investigation, with the Ogden Police Investigations Bureau working closely with federal, state, and local partners to ensure all appropriate charges are pursued,’ McBride said in a Tuesday statement.

The bomb threat was reported just after 8:30 a.m., prompting evacuation and an early release of students. Police quickly began searching the school and its grounds but found no explosives. Classes resumed the following day, on Friday.

Ogden Police Capt. Tim Scott emphasized the seriousness of the threat at the time. ‘This is beyond the scope of a hoax,’ he said, noting their approach to the incident as a real security concern. Separately, a similar bomb threat on the same day targeted American Fork High School but was deemed not credible.

Ogden Police Chief Jake Sube highlighted the department’s commitment to school safety, stating, ‘The swift and coordinated response to this threat underscores the professionalism and readiness of our School Resource Officers, investigative teams, and tactical units.’
