Kaitlan Collins Appointed as CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent and Primetime Anchor
Kaitlan Collins has been named the new chief White House correspondent at CNN, a role that will see her continue to anchor the network’s primetime hour, according to an announcement made on November 26, 2024. Collins, who has been with CNN since 2017, will be relocating from New York to Washington to take on this dual responsibility.
Collins has a robust background in political journalism. She was previously promoted to the 9 p.m. news anchor chair after serving as a White House correspondent. Notably, she moderated CNN’s town hall with Donald Trump, a event that garnered significant attention.
CNN Chairman and CEO Mark Thompson praised Collins, stating, “Kaitlan Collins is the perfect person to lead coverage of the new Trump White House, even as she continues to anchor her key primetime show *The Source*.” Thompson highlighted Collins’ depth and tenacity as a political journalist, noting her impressive record of scoops and exclusive interviews.
Before joining CNN, Collins worked at The Daily Caller, a publication founded by Tucker Carlson. At CNN, she co-anchored a morning program in 2022 alongside Poppy Harlow and Don Lemon. Despite changes in the morning show lineup, Collins remained active in reporting, particularly in the lead-up to the 2024 election, where she broke stories from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
