Karnataka Lok Sabha Elections 2024 To Be Held In Two Phases

Elections for 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 26 and May 7, as announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Fourteen constituencies in South Karnataka, including Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Central, and Bengaluru South, will go to polls in the first phase.

The remaining 14 constituencies, such as Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, and Haveri, will be part of the second phase on May 7. In total, the state has 28 Lok Sabha seats with five reserved for Scheduled Castes and two for Scheduled Tribes.

In a significant move, Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party have formed an alliance ahead of the Lok Sabha elections after the Congress‘s victory in Karnataka. The previous 2019 elections saw BJP dominating with 25 seats, while Congress and JD(S) managed only one each.

With over 53.7 million eligible voters and more than one million in the 18-19 age bracket, Karnataka is expected to be a key battleground in the upcoming polls. Results for the elections are scheduled to be announced on June 4 after the voting across both phases.
