Katie Leung Joins ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 as the Complex Lady Araminta Gun
In the latest development for the highly anticipated fourth season of the Netflix series ‘Bridgerton,’ Katie Leung, known for her role as Cho Chang in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise, has been cast as the new antagonist, Lady Araminta Gun. Filming for the upcoming season is currently underway, and Leung has expressed her excitement about embracing her “mother-slash-villain” role.
Lady Araminta is described as a “twice-married and twice-widowed” woman who is determined to debut her two daughters, Rosamund and Posy, into society. She is characterized as “fabulous, discerning, and blunt” but also fiercely protective of her social standing. Leung hinted that her character is not evil but rather “heavily misunderstood,” adding to the complexity of her role.
The new season will explore the love story between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), with Lady Araminta playing a significant role as Sophie’s employer. Leung’s character has set her sights on securing a marriage for at least one of her daughters, specifically targeting Benedict, which sets up a compelling conflict with Sophie.
Alongside Leung, Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei have been cast as Araminta’s daughters, Rosamund and Posy, respectively. Rosamund is portrayed as “beautiful, vain, and eager to please her mother,” while Posy is the kinder and more talkative sister with a tendency to speak her mind.
The costumes for Lady Araminta are expected to be particularly noteworthy, with Leung praising the show’s costume design as “brilliant” and hinting that her character’s outfits will be something special.
‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 is set to premiere in August 2026, continuing the Regency era romance series based on Julia Quinn’s novels. Fans can look forward to more drama and romance as the Bridgerton family navigates the intricate and opulent world of high society).
