Keke Palmer Reflects on Past Fashion Choices in GQ Video

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Keke Palmer recently opened up about her fashion evolution in a video for GQ‘s “Actually Me.” In the video, Palmer looked back at her past styles, revealing one particular outfit she found “embarrassing.”

Palmer discussed her memorable appearance at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, where she sported a striking hairstyle that she humorously compared to a character from the video game Mortal Kombat. “I look like a Mortal Kombat character. Hair shaved all around, I have one braid. One singular braid,” she said while laughing.

Reflecting on her friends’ reactions at the time, Palmer joked, “The fact that the girls never told me to look in a mirror… They hated me secretly.” Even though she found the look amusing now, she recognized that her younger self was bold and unafraid. “She was fierce, she was unafraid, she was fashion,” Palmer said, chuckling. “Whatever look I was down for, I went full throttle.”

While her past fashion choices shown a spirit of experimentation, Palmer has since settled on a style she loves. She debuted a new copper hair color in January 2025 and declared her love for it, saying, “Imma let y’all know today, I’m never letting this copper go. She’s not leaving.”
