Kelly Loeffler and Steve Witkoff to Lead Trump’s Inaugural Committee
Former Georgia U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler has been selected to co-chair President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, alongside Trump’s close friend and Florida real estate investor Steve Witkoff. The announcement was made by Trump on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Loeffler and Witkoff have been significant supporters and fundraisers for Trump during his recent election campaign. They have hosted multiple key campaign fundraisers and accompanied Trump to various campaign rallies. Witkoff, notably, was with Trump during a second attempted assassination at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, in September.
The inaugural committee, now known as the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee, will oversee the planning of inaugural events leading up to Trump’s inauguration in January. Unlike federal campaign contributions, inaugural committees are not bound by contribution limits, allowing donors and corporate interests to provide unlimited support.
Loeffler, who was chosen by Gov. Brian Kemp to fill the Senate seat left vacant by the late Sen. Johnny Isakson in 2021, has been a staunch supporter of Trump and his policies during her time in the Senate. She later lost her bid to complete Isakson’s term to Sen. Raphael Warnock.
Trump’s first inaugural committee in 2017, chaired by California billionaire Tom Barrack, raised $107 million from over 1,000 individual and corporate donors. Similar significant fundraising efforts are anticipated for this upcoming inauguration).
