Kelly Price Instagram Live Body Shaming

New York City, NY — Grammy-nominated R&B singer Kelly Price took to Instagram Live on Tuesday to confront critics targeting her physical appearance. The 52-year-old performer expressed her frustration with “nasty and disrespectful” comments made by some, particularly Black women, referring to her looks and outfit choices.

In her emotional broadcast, Price stated, “I’m letting you have it right now, because ain’t nothing you can do about that. While you’re looking for a new job, I’m still going to be selling out theaters… looking like a fat slob in clothes that you said look nasty.” Her comments follow a series of harsh remarks from social media users who criticized her wardrobe and appearance rather than her singing.

Price, who hails from the South Side of Jamaica, Queens, reminded viewers of her roots and her resilience. She did not shy away from addressing men either, declaring, “Any man that feels that he has the right to disrespect a woman… you’re a b—h.” This formed part of her broader critique of how members of her community often demean one another.

“Black women, you are some of the most nasty, disrespectful people on God’s planet earth,” she continued, urging them to seek personal growth rather than engage in online bullying. Price emphasized that education does not equate to class, saying, “A degree does not give you class. A degree doesn’t get you into heaven.” She also addressed her critics directly, noting that many comments were superficial and did not reflect her vocal talent.

Price’s livestream drew mixed reactions online. Some defended her, agreeing with her sentiments, while others labeled her a hypocrite. One follower stated, “You ARE exactly who you speak of,” while another expressed admiration, saying, “She said WHAT SHE SAID!!! Love it.” Support for Price was echoed by fans and fellow entertainers alike.

After the Instagram Live session, Price disabled comments on her videos, indicating her intention to take a stand against the negativity. This episode highlights ongoing issues regarding body image and community discourse in the entertainment industry.
