Kmart St Marys Store Opening

Kmart has officially opened its newest store in St Marys, located within the St Marys Village Shopping Centre. This store marks the 18th location for Kmart in western Sydney and promises to be among the most popular, alongside the existing store in Penrith.

Jonathan Guiao, Store Manager, expressed the importance of the new store for the local community. “The new store will be a significant addition for the customers in this community,” he commented. He noted that during times of high cost-of-living pressures, the store’s strategic location between Penrith and Mount Druitt provides locals with a nearby shopping venue.

John Gualtieri, Chief Executive Officer for Kmart Australia and New Zealand, affirmed this sentiment, highlighting the store’s focus on affordability. “Our aim is to enable affordable everyday living for Australians by providing access to high-quality products at prices they can afford,” he stated.

The store opening was officiated by John Gualtieri and Prue Car, Deputy Premier of New South Wales, who emphasized the economic benefits. “The opening of the store will generate nearly 200 new jobs, benefiting the local families,” Car mentioned, adding that many of the new employees are under the age of 21, offering young people vital work experience.

Additionally, the St Marys Kmart has been designated as a ‘Deadly Store’, part of a broader initiative to foster cultural awareness and enhance employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians. The store includes a collection designed by Kyralee Shields, a local Indigenous artist.

Celebrations for the opening are set to continue over the weekend, and Jonathan Guiao expects a large turnout, given the area’s retail gap in the last three years. “We anticipate huge crowds as the local buzz is already booming,” he said.
