The Lake County Sheriff’s Office recently unveiled its newest addition to the K-9 unit, K-9 Samba. Partnered with School Resource Division K-9 Handler, Erica Stamborski, the two have completed extensive training under the guidance of the agency’s K-9 unit supervisor, Sgt. Yancy Isaacs.

Samba, a vibrant yellow Labrador retriever, has undergone 160 hours of rigorous training over a span of three months. Stamborski commended the dog’s intelligence, noting her quick grasp of concepts and her ability to overcome training obstacles with ease.

Specializing in detecting vapes and nicotine, K-9 Samba works diligently within the Lake County schools to prevent the presence of these harmful substances on campus. Since completing their training, the duo has conducted several successful searches, ensuring a safer school environment for students.

The partnership between Stamborski and K-9 Samba extends to Tavares Middle School, where the duo diligently patrolled the campus to ensure a drug-free environment. The impact of their work reverberates throughout the community, promoting a culture of safety and accountability within educational institutions.

With the unwavering support of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Samba and Stamborski stand as a formidable team dedicated to upholding the safety and well-being of students and staff members at educational facilities across Lake County. Their commitment to detecting and deterring harmful substances exemplifies their crucial role in maintaining a positive learning environment.
