Landman Cast Responds to Taylor Sheridan’s Departure to NBCUniversal
NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2025 — As Taylor Sheridan prepares to depart from Paramount for NBCUniversal, cast members from his hit series Landman have expressed confidence in the show’s future. Sheridan, the co-creator and writer, is expected to start a new film deal next year, but his television contract with Paramount runs until the end of 2028.
Billy Bob Thornton, who stars as Tommy Norris on Landman, shared his thoughts during the Season 2 premiere on Tuesday night. ‘I think the shows that are at Paramount stay at Paramount, so I don’t think those are affected,’ Thornton told The Hollywood Reporter. ‘Taylor is a brilliant guy, and I’m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful.’
Sam Elliott, who joins the cast as T.L., Tommy’s father, echoed Thornton’s sentiment. ‘It’s not gonna impact the future of this series because everything Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount,’ he stated. ‘It’s great for Taylor’s world. I think it’s fantastic.’
Sheridan’s move has sparked discussions about the stability of the franchise he has cultivated over the years, which includes popular series like Yellowstone and its spinoffs. The first season of Landman premiered last November, drawing 5.2 million viewers, making it the top debut for Paramount+ in two years.
Thornton admitted that while they feel the pressure of maintaining success, the team is focused on delivering quality. ‘Anytime you have a success, there’s always pressure to make sure that it continues,’ he said. ‘But once you start, you just have to forget that and go out there and do your job.’
Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, believes the show has plenty of room to grow. ‘There are so many stories to tell,’ she said. ‘It’s not like it’s one season taking place over a year or anything; there’s so much room for growth in every single character.’
Demi Moore, returning with an expanded role, added to the excitement around the premiere. ‘I love working with Demi,’ Randolph shared. ‘I had to pinch myself with so many great actors on set.’
With the second season of Landman set to debut on Paramount+ on November 16, the cast remains optimistic about the series’ direction amidst shifting dynamics in Sheridan’s career.
