Laura Ingraham Donald Trump Madison Square Garden Rally

Laura Ingraham, the host of FOX News Channel‘s ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ has recently made notable comparisons between the populist rhetoric of Donald Trump and that of historical figures Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) and Ronald Reagan. In her latest commentary, Ingraham highlighted Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden, drawing parallels to FDR’s iconic 1936 rally at the same venue.

Ingraham cited FDR’s speech from October 31, 1936, where he spoke against the forces of “organized money” and the elites, emphasizing his commitment to the average American. She argued that Trump’s message echoes this populist sentiment, appealing to Americans who feel disenfranchised by the current political establishment.

Additionally, Ingraham referenced Ronald Reagan’s transition from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party, noting that Reagan, like FDR, was known for his strong stance against elitism and his belief in the capacity of Americans for self-government. She quoted Reagan’s 1964 and 1980 speeches, which emphasized the importance of American self-governance and the rejection of elitist control.

Ingraham’s commentary also touched on the broader theme of American populism, suggesting that Trump, like FDR and Reagan, is a “Freedom Fighter” who champions American freedom both domestically and internationally. She criticized those who equate this type of rhetoric with fascism, arguing that such comparisons are either ignorant or dishonest).
