MP Lee Anderson Insists on Prioritizing Local Commitments Over GB News Show
Lee Anderson, the MP for Ashfield and host of a Friday night show on GB News, recently made headlines after a clash with the channel on election night. Anderson, who earns £100,000 annually from his role at GB News, was scheduled to appear first after his election victory but was kept waiting as the channel opted to air live comments from Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
Expressing his frustration with the delay, Anderson voiced his discontent to the production crew in London, stating, ‘So you’re keeping me waiting because of Keir Starmer?’ After approximately 10 minutes of waiting, Anderson decided to cut his interview short and address a group of journalists waiting to speak with him.
In his abrupt departure from the GB News interview, Anderson mentioned his pressing commitments, including a personal matter involving his wife, Sinead Anderson, who suffers from cystic fibrosis. Despite the interruption, he assured the journalists that he would continue hosting his show on GB News following the election on July 4.
Known for his program ‘The Real World with Lee Anderson,’ which had been on hiatus during the election campaign due to broadcasting regulations, Anderson reiterated that his primary focus remains on serving the constituents of Ashfield. While acknowledging his contract with GB News, Anderson emphasized that his dedication lies with his role as an MP.
